Romanesque routes of Alto Aragón II
ROUTE 2
We set off from the city of Huesca, where we can stay at the modern Hotel Abba.

We start our visit at the Provincial Museum, formerly the Royal Palace of the Crown of Aragon, where we can see the famous Hall of the Bell of Huesca and the Hall of Queen Petronila.
After the museum, a visit to the Church of San Pedro el Viejo is a must, especially its 12th-century cloister by the Master of San Juan de la Peña. This monastery church was also a Royal Pantheon.
We leave Huesca on the A-132 Tarragona - San Sebastián motorway towards Ayerbe. Here's a gastronomic tip: 14 km along the same road is Esquedas, where, after our visit, we can have lunch at Venta del Sotón, one of the most renowned restaurants for regional cuisine.
At the same junction there is a sign: Loarre Castle 30 km. On the way we pass the Collegiate Church of Bolea (not Romanesque, but well worth it).
Loarre Castle is bound up with the history of Alto Aragón, having been one of its main defensive strongholds over the centuries. It is the best-preserved Romanesque castle in the world.
On the way to the castle we'll enjoy superb views of the Mallos de Riglos, a meeting point for the world's best climbers
We can finish our route by visiting Agüero and then returning to Huesca.
